Introduction If you've not used professional music
scheduling software before, this video provides an overview of the tool. This video is made with Music 1 SE2 beta. (7:04)
Scheduling With Music 1 A synopsis of how music scheduling is done with M1. This video is made with SE2 beta. The windows in SE1
are different, but the basic scheduling functions are the same.(4:03)
Installing Music 1 SE
What to do with the installer after you've downloaded it. (2:15)
Using Mp3Tag Your mp3 tags need to be accurate, with proper entry
in each Title and Artist field before you import data into M1. This video shows how to use a good (and free) tag editor. (2:15)
Exporting from SAM Broadcaster
If your using M1SE with SAM and the two are on different computers, thus the audio files you stream are on the other computer with SAM, you'll export the mp3 tag data from SAM to a .csv (comma
separated file) which you can then move to the computer where M1 is installed for import. (2:10)
Importing from the SAM .csv File
After you've got the .csv file onto the machine with M1, here's how to import the data. (2:35)
Using MediaMonkey
If you're using Music 1 SE with some other playout system, you'll need to use another software to export your library data to a .csv file for import into Music 1 SE. One we like is
MediaMonkey. It is a free download, Google it. This video shows how to use it. Importing from MediaMonkey.csv File
When you've exported data from MediaMonkey, here's how to import it into M1SE
First Look at Cards in SE1
Basic information about the Music and Non-Music cards in SE1. (2:55)
Advance Look at Song Cards In Music 1 SE2
A look at the Song Cards in the new version that is nearing release. (2:35)
Creating Categories In M1, Categories are
"rotation groups". These are something like folders, but not exactly. Here's the explanation. (2:13)
Category Set-Up Some things to know and do with categories after you've created them.
Search Depth Explained When M1 is scheduling, it always tries to schedule the next song at the top of each category stack. If that song would violate a formatting rule in the slot, M1 tries the next song down the stack. You can tell it how far down the list to look before it stops to let you make an editing decision.
Setting The Search Depth It should be set at approximately 10% of the number of songs in each category. But not less than 2
nor more than 30
Moving Songs from one M1 category to another. (1:36)
Converting Tracks There are two types of audio cards in M1, Music and Non-Music. Sometimes you might get a jingle, liner,
voice track or promo imported onto a Song Card. Here's how to convert it to be the correct type. (1:15)
Artist Setup How to correct Artist names in the Artists table, (2:27)
Artist Genders Setting the gender for Artists and mass-applying the gender to all the Song cards. (1:32)
Artist Separation Each Artist can have a specific separation time. (2:55)
Duets If you're playing a song that is a duet by Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony, here's how to fix it so the duet will be properly
separated from solo songs by both singers.
Artist Alphabetizing When you make printed reports, you'll want to tell M1 to sort the artists by first name or last name.
Artist Grouping Here's how to tell M1 to separate songs by a solo artist from songs the artist recorded as part of a group.
Creating Clocks How to create Format Clocks and tell M1 which clock is to be used in each of the hours of the broadcast day. (4:33)
Clock Size You can over-schedule a format clock. When you add more than 60 minutes' content to a clock, here's what happens.
Clock Rules Setting formatting rules for scheduling (4:05)
Clock Rules-Transitions More about formatting rules (6:30)
Clock Schedule Tell M1 which clock to use in each hour of the broadcast day.
Rotation Prediction M1 shows what the typical rotation pattern will be for the songs in each category. This helps you avoid having
songs scheduled in some rotation pattern that you want to avoid. (3:32)
Scheduling-First Look Basic scheduling and playlist editing.
Scheduling More about scheduling with M1SE version 1.
Auto-Jump This
function allows M1 to look at several format clock slots as it schedules. If a song won't fit in the Category A slot at 1:15, M1 can try it in the Category A slot at 1:45. This increases scheduling
efficiency.
Formatting Rule Enforcement Normally, M1 will never schedule any song in a slot where it would violate one
of your formatting and music flow rules. But sometimes, you might want to turn off a rule.
The Shrinking Search Depth If you have 100 songs in a Category, you'll have told M1 it can "dig" down into the list as far as 10 songs if need be when the ones at the top of the stack can't be scheduled in a slot without violating a rule. Sometimes M1 may stop to show you a scheduling problem and dislay fewer than 10 choices. Here's why that happens.
Scheduling Views The way the scheduling clocks can be displayed can be customised. Then, with a mouse-click you can
view the scheduled hour in five different ways.
Reports How to make library reports which can be printed or exported to a text file.
System Parameters Some one-time settings you'll need to make. (3:26)
Playlist and Logs Folders M1 makes two log files each day, one for its own uses and the playlist file that is imported and played
by your webcasting system. (3:12)
